  29. Back in the mid-70s there was a US Owned assembly plant by the name of
  30. ARICO operating in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mex. just across the border
  31. from Douglas, Arizona.  One of the PRINCIPLE investors in that venture
  32. was a woman by the name of Verna Rapier. The chap with all the big
  33. plans on how to spend Verna's money was Shields Fair, a Motorola
  34. (Phoenix) cast-off and Verna's "Significant Other".  In the mid '70s
  35. they were churning out trainloads of 11-meter CB radio linear
  36. amplifiers and winding "trip coils" for a Camden, New Jersey outfit
  37. that built GFCI circuit breakers.

  39. As uncommon as the name "Rapier" is, its association with an
  40. electronics gizmo coming out of Mexico is almost too coincidental
  41. for it to be anything less.  Perhaps Verna & Shields are still
  42. in business...
